Black Soldier Fly

Our amazing insect team!

Meet the Black Soldier Fly. Non-invasive, known as BSF to his friends, and when it's a suit and tie event, Hermetia Illucens. This is no ordinary "house fly" that carries disease and spoils our food, this is not a pest.

In their larval phase BSF are voracious eaters of almost anything, quickly consuming many times their own weight - a real solution to organic waste mismanagement.

Adults BSF don't eat, and survive on what was stored in the larval stages and water. They have a relatively short life span, and their primary goal is reproduction.

Adults BSF don't eat, and survive on what was stored in the larval stages and water. They have a relatively short life span, and their primary goal is reproduction.

These wonderful insects provide an environmentally-friendly, sustainable, premium feed. They can be consumed live or dried. BSF larvae are also processed into a meal/powder, with other byproducts such as oils and chitin.

BSF larvae are an excellent source of protein, fat and calcium. They are an ideal choice for poultry, reptiles, fish, and other animals needing a high protein, high fat, high calcium diet. They are certified for human consumption in many countries too.

The BSF frass (the stuff that's left after they're finished eating, shedding and pooping) is high in Nitrogen, Potassium and Phosphorous. Frass is rich in macro- and micro-nutrients that improve the quality of soil and of crops and plants. It also contains chitin to help boost plants’ natural immunity. Our product is baked and triple sieved - a high-quality, sustainable and natural solution to soil nutrition and improved yields.
